As a media to participate in the direct interaction between the unit and user, the capacitive screen by virtue of its superior sensitivity and speed of response won the praise of Apple users. Comparing traditional resistive touch screen and capacitive screen, what is the difference? Here's a brief analysis:
Resistive Touch Screen
Advantages: cheap cost, good responsiveness. No matter it is four lines, five lines, seven lines or eight-wire resistive touch screen, they are working in a complete isolated environment. It has very tiny affect from dust, water vapor and other variety of harsh environments. It can be touched by any object. Stability is good.
Disadvantages: thin OTI coating of the resistive touch screen could easily be broken. Too thick coating generates internal reflection and decrease screen's transparency. In addition it easily get scratched and make the screen stop work. If we use multilayer structure it will lead to great loss of light. It needs to increase the backlight to improve bad light transmittance. Then it increases battery consumption.
Capacitive touch screen
Advantages: sensitive touch experience and easy to implement multi-point touch, better light transmittance and display clarity, harder screen, long working life.
Disadvantages: capacitive screen recognize human body as an electrode of a capacitor element. It generates sufficient current when a conductor is close to the capacitance ITO and cause malfunction of the capacitive screen . Therefore, when a larger area of your hand or hand-held conductor material is close to the capacitive screen instead of touch it can cause malfunction of the capacitive screen, which occurs particularly in wet weather. Capacitive screen may drift when the ambient temperature or humidity changes and cause inaccurate operation. Another drawback is screen gives no response when we touch with glove wearing or held a non-conductive object in hand. Because the more insulation media is added.
How to distinguish Resistive Touch Screen from Capacitive touch screen
It's easy to distinguish resistive touch screen. Most screens do not support multi-point touch. But there are also a very small number support multi-point recognition. Then we just distinguish by resistive screen's unique feature that it is operated by heavy pressure. We touch the screen by sharp nails, stylus and other insulating objects. If it works then it's a resistance screen.
